On Thursday, April 27th, 2017 our band is performing at the RIMEA Band Festival for the first time in roughly ten years. We will play "Movement 1 from Folk Song Suite", "Shenandoah", and "Symphony #1, (In Memorium Dresden)". It will be an incredible opportunity to hear other groups from the state and to recieve critique from professional adjudicators.
We will depart after advisory and travel to East Providence High School.  Details will follow about protocols  for advisory that morning. Concert Dress will be our uniform.
After the Festival we will stop at Johnston's Burger King for lunch. Please have money for lunch or pack one that does not need to be refrigerated. We will be back to school in time for the afternoon buses.
Permission Slips are due Monday, April 10th. (Quiz Grade)

The Festival Concert is in days. Please assemble all the pieces of your concert uniform to be sure you haven't lost any pieces. Make sure it is clean and wrinkle free.
You will also be in concert uniform for Choral Festival and for Band Festival.

Our concerts are formal events. The uniform is as follows:
Concert Gowns provided by the school.
Black dress shoes (as close to "flats" as possible)
          Black nylons
          Tuxes  provided by the school
Shirt combo from Our Place for Tuxedos and Uniforms*
          Black dress shoes
          Black socks
* The shirt combo costs $30 and includes:
     Tux shirt
     Bow tie
     Black buttons
To ensure uniform dress the package must be purchased at Our Place. Similar packages can be purchased from other stores but do not match.
Students who are prohibited from purchasing the package by financial hardship will not be prohibited from performing, but must contact Mr. Lamoureux immediately. This should be a private conversation.

To honor those who died in service to our country, scores gather at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Exeter to perform Echo Taps. Multitudes surround the center of the cemetery and play Taps one phrase apart. The result is a powerful, solemn performance that is followed by a unison playing in concert with a brief ceremony with speaker James Langevin.
Echo Taps will take place Saturday, May 20th, 2017, Armed Forces Day.
All brass players are welcome to perform, but anyone is welcome to attend. Reporting times to follow.

The Band and Majorettes will march in the North Providence Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29th, 2017.
Report to the high school at 11:00am. We will board buses and travel to North Providence High School.
The parade steps off at 1:00pm. We will march down Mineral Spring Avenue and to Governor Notte Park on Rt. 7.
The buses will meet us there and return to Johnston High School.
We will perform "America", "Sounds of Sousa" and "Tear the Roof Off".
Everyone please return with us on the bus. We will collect uniforms, shakos, and shoes when we arrive back at the school. Mrs. Forte's special learners will wash the uniforms as part of their life-skills education.
Thanks for your cooperation and for sacrificing your family time to serve the community and honor our veterans.
