Dr. Tim Howarth

At Johnston Senior High School, we believe every student can achieve at high levels when expectations are clear, consistent, and paired with meaningful support. Our goal is to create a school where students feel challenged academically, connected to their community, and prepared for success beyond graduation.

Our Panther Principles—Prompt, Prepared, Polite, and Productive—are at the heart of everything we do. They shape our classrooms, hallways, activities, and relationships, helping us build a culture where learning is valued, respect is expected, and every student has the opportunity to succeed. Together with our Vision of a Graduate, these principles guide our work each day as we prepare students for college, careers, and life.

Success is a partnership among students, families, and staff. By working together and maintaining high expectations for ourselves and one another, we can ensure that every Panther is known, challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

I bring 13 years of experience in public education, having served as a high school mathematics teacher, assistant principal, district-level administrator, and now principal. I earned my bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College, my master's degree from Brown University, and my doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. These experiences have strengthened my belief that great schools are built on meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success.

My passion for education began while I was a high school student, where working with younger students inspired me to pursue this profession. As a former Johnston resident, it is especially meaningful to serve this community and partner with our students, families, and staff as we continue building a school where every Panther can thrive.
