The class floats are at the heart of the JHS Homecoming tradition. Each class selects a theme and works for months to transform its ideas into an elaborate float.
Students create thousands of paper flowers by folding, tying, and opening each one by hand. Those flowers are then used to cover the float’s structures, characters, and scenery. Students, class advisors, and families contribute countless hours to designing, building, and completing each float.
The finished floats are formally unveiled during the Homecoming parade and judged as part of the annual class competition. Although only one class earns first place, each float represents the creativity, perseverance, teamwork, and pride of the students who created it.
