The Johnston High School Cosmetology Program prepares students for careers in the beauty and wellness industry through hands-on, industry-focused learning. Students develop professional skills in hair, nails, skincare, sanitation, safety, customer service, and salon operations while working in a salon-like environment. As students advance through the program, they gain the technical knowledge and practical experience needed to prepare for state licensure pathways, industry certifications, employment, apprenticeships, and continued education in cosmetology and related fields.

9th Grade: Cosmetology I
Cosmetology I introduces foundational hair, skin, nail, sanitation, safety, and salon skills through hands-on learning.
10th Grade: Cosmetology II
Cosmetology II builds advanced hair, skin, nail, and salon skills through hands-on practice while preparing students for industry success.
11th Grade: Cosmetology III
Cosmetology III advances technical and salon skills through hands-on practice, client services, and preparation for industry certification.
12th Grade: Cosmetology IV & Capstone
Cosmetology IV/Capstone refines advanced skills through client services, career preparation, and real-world salon experiences.
