Prom is one of the major celebrations of senior year. Information will be available as the end of the year approaches.

The senior trip provides members of the graduating class with an opportunity to celebrate together before graduation. Information will be shared when available.

CTE Awards Night recognizes graduating students for their accomplishments in JHS career and technical education programs.

Senior Honors Night is an evening celebration recognizing graduating students receiving scholarships, honors, awards, and other distinctions.

The Senior Banquet brings the graduating class together to celebrate their shared experiences and the completion of their time at JHS.

There are many events that are coordinated and run by students directly, including Senior Sunset, Senior Breakfast, and more.

All participating seniors must attend required graduation rehearsals. Arrival time, location, transportation, and student expectations will be communicated before graduation.
Student must be eligible for graduation in order to particiate in graduation rehersal.

Graduation celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating class and formally welcomes its members as alumni of Johnston Senior High School.
Only students who have satisfied all graduation requirements by the established deadline may participate in the ceremony.
Ceremony details, guest information, arrival procedures, accessibility information, and expectations will be posted and shared when available.
Senior Events and Graduation Eligibility
Participation in senior activities and participation in the graduation ceremony are governed by different requirements. Being permitted to attend senior events does not mean that a student has completed the requirements for graduation or is eligible to participate in commencement.
Eligibility for Senior Events
Participation in activities such as prom, the senior trip, or Senior Banquet is subject to the academic, attendance, and behavioral eligibility requirements outlined in the JHS Student Handbook.
A student’s eligibility is determined for each event. Participation in a senior event does not guarantee that the student will earn a diploma or participate in graduation.
Eligibility for Graduation
Graduation is not governed by the general eligibility requirements for senior activities. To participate in the graduation ceremony, a student must complete all Johnston Public Schools and State of Rhode Island graduation requirements by the established deadline.
This includes all required credits, courses, portfolio components, presentations, and any other applicable graduation requirements. Students who have not completed all requirements will not participate in the graduation ceremony, even if they were permitted to participate in other senior events.
In addition, students much return all school-owned items such as textbooks, laptops, uniforms, etc. prior to participating in the graduation ceremony and receiving a diploma.
