Multilingual Learning at JHS
MLL Services
Our multilingual learner team provides language, academic, and personal support to help students succeed in the classroom and participate fully in the JHS community.
English Language Development
Students receive instruction and support designed to strengthen their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Academic Access
All our students take College Prep courses, with MLL supports embedded in the classroom as needed.
Family Communication
Interpretation and translation services help multilingual families access information and participate in their student’s education.
Belonging and Engagement
Students are supported in building relationships, joining school activities, and becoming active members of the JHS community.
English Language Proficiency

Multilingual learners participate annually in the ACCESS assessment to measure progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

Teachers and multilingual learner staff monitor language development and academic progress throughout the year to adjust support when needed.

Students exit direct multilingual learner services after meeting state-established English-language proficiency requirements. Their academic progress continues to be monitored after they exit.
